Norway Travel eSIM – Data Plans from 1 to 180 Days

Norway draws UK visitors for fjord cruises, the Northern Lights in Tromsø, city breaks in Oslo and Bergen, and scenic train rides such as the Bergen Line and the Flåm Railway. Many trips involve ferries, mountain roads and changing plans around the weather, so mobile data is a real help.

Norway is outside the EU, and some UK contracts do not include it in their European roaming. A travel eSIM covers that gap without changing SIM cards. It is installed beside your UK SIM, so your UK number stays in the phone for bank codes and calls, and the eSIM handles your data.

• Northern Lights trip to Tromsø: Unlimited for 5 days or 3GB for 15 days covers aurora forecasts, tour bookings and photos.
• Fjord cruise port days: 1GB for 7 days or 3GB for 15 days is enough for maps and messages ashore.
• Two-week road trip: Unlimited for 15 days or 20GB for 30 days suits navigation, ferry times and sharing the views.
• Long stay or seasonal work: 50GB for 90 days or 100GB for 180 days lasts for an extended stay.

How ordering works

1. Choose a plan and place your order. Pay by UK bank transfer or PayPal.
2. Once your payment is confirmed, we prepare your eSIM and send you the QR code by email or live chat. Orders are handled by hand, so we suggest ordering at least a day before you fly.
3. Scan the QR code at home over Wi-Fi, then switch the eSIM on when you arrive in Norway.

Installing your eSIM

• iPhone: Settings, Mobile Service (or Mobile Data), Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
• Samsung Galaxy: Settings, Connections, SIM manager, Add eSIM, then Scan QR code.
• Google Pixel: Settings, Network and internet, SIMs, Add SIM, then Download a SIM instead.

Install it before you travel, while you have a steady Wi-Fi connection. A QR code can usually be installed only once, so do not delete the eSIM from your phone until your trip is over. When you land, turn on the eSIM line, set it as the line for mobile data and switch on data roaming for that eSIM.

Using mobile data in Norway

UK flights arrive at Oslo Gardermoen, Bergen, Stavanger, Tromsø and other airports, and many visitors arrive by cruise ship into fjord ports such as Geiranger and Flåm. Data helps with ferry and train timetables, road conditions on mountain passes, parking and toll apps, and aurora forecasts in the north.

Coverage is good in towns and along most main roads, but it can be patchy in deep fjords, on mountain plateaus, at sea and in the far north. Download offline maps before long drives or hikes.

Check your phone first

Your phone must be unlocked and support eSIM. Most iPhones from the XS and XR onwards, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and later can use one. Some models sold in certain countries have no eSIM, so look for an Add eSIM option in your settings. If you are not sure, ask us before you order.

Good to know

• Data only: these plans give you mobile data, not a local phone number. Use WhatsApp, FaceTime or other apps for calls and messages.
• For travel only: the plans work in Norway and are not meant for use in the UK.
• Your UK SIM: keep it in the phone to receive texts such as bank codes, but turn off data roaming on it so it does not use data abroad.
• Norway only: this plan does not cover neighbouring Sweden, Finland or Russia. Ask us about plans for a wider route.
• Unlimited plans: a fair-use policy can apply. Ask us if you expect very heavy use.

Questions

Will it work while the cruise ship is at sea?

Out at sea there may be no signal, so use it in port and along the coast. Ships often run their own onboard mobile service with separate charges, so keep data roaming off on your UK SIM.

Does it work in Svalbard?

Ask us before you order if you are travelling to Svalbard, so we can check whether this plan suits that part of your trip.

When should I buy my Norway eSIM?

A day or more before you travel is best. That leaves time to receive the QR code and install it at home.

When do the days start counting?

The number of days is how long the plan lasts once it is active. Install it before you go and switch it on when you arrive.

Can I cancel after the QR code is sent?

No. Like our other codes, an eSIM cannot be returned once the QR code has been sent. See our refunds and cancellations page.

Would a physical SIM suit me better?
