Description
Guernsey feels close to home, yet it sits outside the UK, and some UK mobile plans treat it differently from a trip to Cornwall or the Lakes. A travel eSIM gives you a separate data allowance for the island, so you know what you are using before you step off the plane or ferry.
People head over for cliff walks along the south coast, sailing, a long weekend in St Peter Port, day trips to Herm and Sark, or to see family who live on the island. The eSIM sits alongside your UK SIM, which stays in the phone with your usual number for calls and texts, while the eSIM looks after maps, messaging and browsing.

Choose your Guernsey data plan
There are 10 plans for Guernsey. Pick the one that matches the length of your stay and how much you stream, video call or share photos.

- Day trip or overnight visit: 1GB for 1 day is enough for maps, ferry times and messages. 100MB for 1 day suits someone who only needs to check a few things.
- Long weekend in St Peter Port: 3GB for 15 days covers walking routes, restaurant searches and sharing photos without counting every megabyte.
- Week or two with family: 5GB or 10GB for 30 days leaves room for video calls home and catching up on the news.
- Regular visits or a longer stay: 50GB for 90 days or 100GB for 180 days suits people working on the island or coming back often.
How ordering works
- Choose a plan and place your order. Pay by UK bank transfer or PayPal.
- Once your payment is confirmed, we prepare your eSIM and send you the QR code by email or live chat. Orders are handled by hand, so we suggest ordering at least a day before you fly.
- Scan the QR code at home over Wi-Fi, then switch the eSIM on when you arrive in Guernsey.

Installing your eSIM
- iPhone: Settings, Mobile Service (or Mobile Data), Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
- Samsung Galaxy: Settings, Connections, SIM manager, Add eSIM, then Scan QR code.
- Google Pixel: Settings, Network and internet, SIMs, Add SIM, then Set up an eSIM.
Install it before you travel, while you have a steady Wi-Fi connection. A QR code can usually be installed only once, so do not delete the eSIM from your phone until your trip is over. The phone makers also have step-by-step guides: Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel. When you land, turn on the eSIM line, set it as the line for mobile data and switch on data roaming for that eSIM.
Using mobile data in Guernsey
Most visitors arrive at Guernsey Airport or by ferry into St Peter Port harbour. Data is handy for checking ferry and flight times, which can change with the weather, finding bus times around the island and following coastal walks on a map. St Peter Port is compact, but the lanes inland are narrow and winding, so a map app helps if you hire a car or bike.
Herm and Sark are short boat trips away and much quieter, with fewer buildings and open headland where signal can drop. Alderney is a separate island further north, so check with us before you rely on this plan there.
Check your phone first
Your phone must be unlocked and support eSIM. Most iPhones from the XS and XR onwards, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and later can use one. Some models sold in certain countries have no eSIM, so look for an Add eSIM option in your settings. If you are not sure, ask us before you order.
Good to know
- Data only: these plans give you mobile data, not a local phone number. Use WhatsApp, FaceTime or other apps for calls and messages.
- For travel only: the plans work in Guernsey and are not meant for use in the UK.
- Your UK SIM: keep it in the phone to receive texts such as bank codes, but turn off data roaming on it so it does not use data abroad.
- Outside the UK: Guernsey is a Crown Dependency, not part of the UK, so check your UK network’s roaming terms and turn off data roaming on your UK SIM if needed.
- Jersey is separate: this plan is for Guernsey. If you are island hopping to Jersey, look at our Jersey eSIM as well.

Questions
Will my UK phone plan work in Guernsey without extra charges?
It depends on your network. Some UK plans include the Channel Islands and some charge roaming, so check before you go. The eSIM gives you a separate data allowance either way.
Can I use the eSIM on a day trip to Herm or Sark?
You can try, but these islands are small and quiet, and signal can be patchy away from the harbours. Download offline maps before you leave St Peter Port.
When should I buy my Guernsey eSIM?
A day or more before you travel is best. That leaves time to receive the QR code and install it at home.
When do the days start counting?
The number of days is how long the plan lasts once it is active. Install it before you go and switch it on when you arrive.
Can I cancel after the QR code is sent?
No. Like our other codes, an eSIM cannot be returned once the QR code has been sent. See our refunds and cancellations page.
