Year-round sunshine brings UK visitors to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura for family holidays, winter escapes and walking breaks. A Canary Islands travel eSIM means you have mobile data for transfers, beach days and excursions without roaming charges from your UK network.

It works next to your UK SIM, so your own number remains in the phone for calls and bank texts. The eSIM handles maps, ferry and bus times, restaurant bookings and video calls home. Choose a plan for the length of your stay and switch it on when you land on the islands.

• Week in the sun: 1GB for 7 days if you mainly use hotel Wi-Fi, or 3GB for 30 days if you are out and about more.
• Two-week family holiday: 5GB for 30 days or 10GB for 30 days covers maps, photos and video calls home.
• Island hopping: Unlimited for 7 days or unlimited for 10 days for ferry bookings, maps and photos.
• Winter months in the sun: 20GB for 30 days or unlimited for 30 days, ordered again each month you stay.

How ordering works

1. Choose a plan and place your order. Pay by UK bank transfer or PayPal.
2. Once your payment is confirmed, we prepare your eSIM and send you the QR code by email or live chat. Orders are handled by hand, so we suggest ordering at least a day before you fly.
3. Scan the QR code at home over Wi-Fi, then switch the eSIM on when you arrive in Canary Islands.

Installing your eSIM

• iPhone: Settings, Mobile Service (or Mobile Data), Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
• Samsung Galaxy: Settings, Connections, SIM manager, Add eSIM, then Scan QR code.
• Google Pixel: Settings, Network and internet, SIMs, Add SIM, then Download a SIM instead.

Install it before you travel, while you have a steady Wi-Fi connection. A QR code can usually be installed only once, so do not delete the eSIM from your phone until your trip is over. When you land, turn on the eSIM line, set it as the line for mobile data and switch on data roaming for that eSIM.

Using mobile data on the Canary Islands

Most UK flights arrive at Tenerife South, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote or Fuerteventura, with fewer using Tenerife North and La Palma. Data helps you meet your transfer, check island bus timetables and book ferries between islands, for example from Corralejo across to Lanzarote or from Los Cristianos to La Gomera.

Up in the mountains, such as around Mount Teide, in the Anaga hills or on the quieter western islands, signal can be patchy, so save maps and walking routes before you head out. Car hire is popular, and a map app makes the winding hill roads much easier to plan.

Check your phone first

Your phone must be unlocked and support eSIM. Most iPhones from the XS and XR onwards, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and later can use one. Some models sold in certain countries have no eSIM, so look for an Add eSIM option in your settings. If you are not sure, ask us before you order.

Good to know

• Data only: these plans give you mobile data, not a local phone number. Use WhatsApp, FaceTime or other apps for calls and messages.
• For travel only: the plans work in Canary Islands and are not meant for use in the UK.
• Your UK SIM: keep it in the phone to receive texts such as bank codes, but turn off data roaming on it so it does not use data abroad.
• Canary Islands, not mainland Spain: this plan is for the Canary Islands. If your trip also takes in mainland Spain, ask us about our Spain plan for that part.
• Unlimited plans: a fair-use policy can apply to unlimited plans.

Questions

Is a Spain eSIM the same as a Canary Islands eSIM?

Not here. The Canary Islands are part of Spain but sit outside some EU arrangements, so they have their own plan. If your trip includes mainland Spain too, ask us which plan suits your route.

Does one plan cover all the islands?

Yes, the plan is for the Canary Islands as a whole, so you can use it on Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and the smaller islands. Signal on remote walking routes can be weaker.

When should I buy my Canary Islands eSIM?

A day or more before you travel is best. That leaves time to receive the QR code and install it at home.

When do the days start counting?

The number of days is how long the plan lasts once it is active. Install it before you go and switch it on when you arrive.

Can I cancel after the QR code is sent?

No. Like our other codes, an eSIM cannot be returned once the QR code has been sent. See our refunds and cancellations page.

Would a physical SIM suit me better?
